About tecnov8 · 16 years of product design & engineering
We exist for the gap between the demo and the dependable
Software has never been easier to start and harder to finish. AI tools generate working prototypes in days, but production systems in regulated industries still demand what they always have: security, resilience, auditability, and someone answering the pager. tecnov8 was built to supply exactly that.
Our story
Two practices, one engine room
tecnov8 is the trading name of Tecnovate Ltd: one team covering products and operations end to end.
Our story started from opposite ends of the same problem. One half is operations: keeping software alive in production, where nobody notices you until something breaks. The other half is design, through the studio we build with. You will have used their work without knowing it, for public bodies, broadcasters and national charities.
The two met in the middle. One practice designing and building the products, the other hosting and running them. Engagement after engagement, the same pattern held: software built with product craft, operated with data-centre discipline, and no one left stranded in the gap between.
tecnov8 is that partnership made permanent. One team covering the full lifecycle of Build, Tune and Run, so the people who design your product at 9am are backed by the people answering the pager at 3am. The V8 in your code's engine room.

Joseph Castle
Founder & CEO
Twenty years in technology, sixteen of them running a company he grew by hand. Joseph co-founded Tecnologika in 2009 and led it until 2026, building it to around £10m a year: a solutions and infrastructure provider with a team of up to thirty of his own, drawing on as many as 150 engineers through its partner network, supporting clients across 26 data-centre locations. Trading systems and oil and gas infrastructure, the kind of estate that stops the world when it stops working.
Forbes featured him in 2020. CRN interviewed him in 2022, named him on its A-List, and nominated him for the Forty Under 40 awards. He has moderated panels at the Computing and CRN Women in Tech Festival. Channel Chat interviewed him for its podcast.
tecnov8 is what he took from it. A managed service and software engineering company for the people who write software and need it watched around the clock, whoever built it. Agencies sell time. This one is the other shape on purpose: the work productised, the prices published before you commit, AI collecting the evidence from every angle, and expert engineers validating it, advising on it and building with guardrails and precision, with a named engineer on every job.
Outside it, he has been a trustee of the charity SkyWay since 2012, and invests in early-stage technology companies.

Operating model
How we're built to deliver
01
Follow-the-sun operations
Engineering and operations teams across three continents mean incidents are handled by people who are awake, not people who were woken.
02
Small senior teams
Engagements are staffed with experienced engineers, not pyramids of juniors billed by the hour. You'll know everyone on your team by name.
03
Fixed-scope entry
Every relationship starts with a technical assessment: fixed price, written findings, no obligation. Trust is earned before retainers are signed.
Values
What we optimise for
01
Measure before opinion
We profile, load-test, and read the logs before proposing anything. Recommendations come with evidence attached.
02
Boring reliability
The highest compliment a production system can earn is that nobody talks about it. We optimise for uneventful.
03
Own the outcome
We run what we build. That changes how you build: every shortcut we might take is a page we'll receive at 2am.
Work with us
Whether you have a prototype that needs hardening or a production system that needs running, the first step is the same conversation.
